What each daily check records

One check of one search, stored with its date. When a client asks about last Tuesday, the answer is on record.

Position
Where the site ranks in Google's organic results, down to the top 30. Further down reads as not in the top 30.
Ranking page
The address that ranked on that date, so you can see when Google swaps one page for another.
Change
Places gained or lost over 1, 7 and 30 days, and the best position the keyword has reached.
Top results
The top results for that search are stored for 90 days, so two dates can be compared site by site.

By country, city and device

A project is one website in one location, one language and one device. Positions differ between New York and London, and between a laptop and a phone, so each search is checked on its own.

A history you can check

Open any keyword for its chart over 7, 30, 90 or 365 days. Each point is one day's check. Positions stay for as long as the keyword is tracked.

  • Sort, filter and star keywords, and group them in lists.
  • Import keywords from a CSV and export the table to one.
  • Changed a page? Refresh the keywords you care about and read the new position when the check comes back.

Questions about rank tracking

Is it a daily rank tracker?

Yes. Every tracked keyword is checked once a day. The checks run through the day in UTC, not at one fixed hour. You can also refresh chosen keywords on demand, from the plan's monthly allowance. A refresh replaces that day's position, so the record holds one position a day.

When do the first positions arrive?

Usually within a few hours of adding a keyword. A new account gets one email when its first rankings are in.

Can I track rankings in one city?

Yes. Each project takes a country or a city, a language and a device. To compare two cities, or desktop with mobile, add a second project for the same site.

How long is the history kept?

Positions stay while the keyword or its project exists. The full top results for a date stay 90 days. Removing a keyword deletes its history, and that cannot be undone. After a plan ends, daily checks stop and your data stays readable until you ask us to delete it.

How deep does it look?

To the top 30. A keyword further down reads as not in the top 30.

Where do the positions come from?

From Google results for that location, language and device, collected through a third-party search data provider. What one person sees can differ, because search results vary by person and by time.

What does it not track?

Bing, the Local Map Pack, backlinks and keyword research are outside the product.

What does rank tracking cost?
